Our Polish plastics production site HEINZ-PLASTICS Polska Sp. z o.o. in Dzialdowo has been granted funding by the European Union for an innovation project.
This involves the ‘development and introduction of a maintenance-free, fully autonomous technology for the assembly, inspection and packaging of premium cosmetic packaging – using thermoformed plastic trays designed and manufactured with the aid of artificial intelligence’, as stated in the project description.
The planned tasks and measures within the scope of the project are:
- Development of a digital model for a fully autonomous process for the assembly, quality control and packaging of premium cosmetic packaging.
- Construction of a prototype system that enables the completion of packaging without human intervention in a clean room area.
- Research and development of new materials for thermoforming that remain unaffected by contact with different cosmetic packaging.
- Development of models and algorithms for the intelligent design of thermoformable materials.
- Establishment of a pilot technology line for the autonomous assembly, quality control and packaging of premium cosmetic packaging.
- Development of industrial thermoforming technology for new transport trays with unique technological and functional properties.
- Conducting tests for autonomous assembly, control and packaging using these innovative thermoformed trays.
Target groups of the funding programme are companies from the packaging industry, including HEINZ-GLAS. The aim is to develop sustainable transport solutions in the form of durable trays that, when in contact with refined glass and plastic packaging, rule out any possible negative effects on the products being transported.
The project objective is to introduce a process innovation of supra-regional significance: a maintenance-free, fully autonomous technology for the assembly, inspection and packaging of premium cosmetic packaging.
The innovative strength of the project thus lies in the combination of:
- process innovation through autonomous technology for assembly, inspection and packaging, and
- product innovation through new-generation thermoformed trays that contain up to 50% PCR material and are designed using artificial intelligence.
